Dear Readers,
When you’re writing a review do you often worry that you’re saying too much, or even worse, too little? Some books we meet are bound to pass us by without leaving much of a mark. These are the books that I have trouble reviewing. I want to give the review more meaning in its bones, but it’s just not there. For other books, I find, they affect me greatly and I have many things to say about many different points of the book. I worry that I’m doing the book a disservice by letting my passion for it take over, and my reader gets lost in the shuffle. I think this is a line that all book bloggers have to deal with. We do it for the love of books, so when the love isn’t there it can be hard to find the inspiration to work, but when we feel passionately about a book we run the risk of becoming too personal.
For me, it makes more sense not to hold back. To explore the pros and cons of each book I read, and to provide a fair and honest review, even if it’s a lengthy and intimate one, or a review that is shorter and to the point. What say you, fellow bloggers? Do you think it’s possible for a review to be too detailed or passionate? Do you write a review for every single book you read - even if you can’t find the inspiration?
