Question Hour: The “My Book Shelves are planning to go on strike.” Edition.

Confession time. How many unread books do you have on your shelves or in piles in random places in your home? Do you sometimes consider donating them all to charity and starting over because there are so many and you don’t want to deal with the reader’s guilt you feel every time you glance at the corner of your living room? Have your considered hanging a sheet over that corner just so you don’t have to look? …Just me?

Don’t get me wrong. I read the books I buy. I have a shelf for my read books and a shelf for those I haven’t read. The unread shelf mostly consists of older novels that were picked up in bulk while thrifting, or at library sales, that I haven’t gotten around to… yet.

Below, one of my cats, Rue, sits in a freshly opened Amazon box and judges my choices to still purchase new books while all of those books in the background sit unread. That or she’s considering Bobble’s positive impact on the environment.

What say you, readers? How many books?

  3. thedailydoodles answered: I got plenty of unread books, but they don’t give me guilt really… just something to look forward to!
