Faves of 2011

Special thanks to InkCrush for hosting the Faves of TwentyEleven Book Awards! This is going on all week. It seems like it’s going to be a lot of fun so if you’re interested you should join in. Today we focus on The Characters. I’m still going to try not to pick the same people for every category.

1. favourite female main character
Arya Stark from Game of Thrones. Feisty and opionated. She knows she doesn’t want the life the ladies in her world are required to have. Also Fire from the book of the same title by Kristen Cashore. I liked that she was brave but also showed emotion and was vulnerable when it came to certain things. I related to her a lot.
2. favourite male main character
Samwise Gamgee from The Fellowship of the Ring. He is loyal, kind and good-hearted. Also brave.
3. best couple <3
Yelena & Valek from Maria V. Snyder’s Study series and Fire & Brigan from Fire.
4. who i so want to be best friends with
Peregrin Took. Duh. Fellowship of the Ring.
5. who i fell completely in love with (new literary crush)
Four from Divergent.
6. worst (best & baddest) villian
Cersei Lannister from Game of Thrones.
7. best character twist (who you loved then hated or vice versa)
Andevai from Cold Magic. I didn’t like him but by the end I did.
8. best kick-arse female
Daenerys Targaryen from Game of Thrones. She commands dragons.
9. best kick-arse male
Puck from The Iron King. Because he could kick ass and be funny at the same time. Not that that means he’d get the girl of course…
 10. broke your heart the most
Samantha from Before I Fall.
 11. favourite pet/animal character award
All of the direwolves of the Game of Thrones series.
12. best YA parents award
Pressia’s Grandpa (and guardian) in Pure.
 13. favourite sibling relationship
Clara and Jeffrey in Unearthly. Their relationship reminded me of my relationship with my eldest younger brother. Also Poppet and Widget from The Night Circus.
 14. favourite best friends/friendship award
Frodo and Sam.
15. best/worst character names

Bitterblue is still the weirdest name. You can find that one in Graceling. Pressia and Partridge in Pure were names that I liked. Even if they are a bit odd.
