Top Ten of 2011

Top 10 of 2011 is an event hosted by A Life Bound by Books, Confessions of a Bookaholic, Fiktshun, and Two Chicks on Books that allows everyone to look back on the books they’ve read in 2011. Today’s topic is Top Ten Books I’m Looking Forward to in 2012.

Just going to include a few stats as well. I am hoping to finish two more books that I’m in the middle of before 2012 hits but here are my stats from Goodreads not including those two:

98 Books Read

31, 349 Pages Read

I surpassed what I read last year already so I am very content with this.

Now forward to 2012…

What books are you looking forward to in 2012?

I’m a little late to the event but I’m going to participate in the last three days. Today’s topic is Top Ten Book Boyfriends of 2011.

I don’t swoon all that often but it does happen occasionally ;) and I wouldn’t know what to say to explain my feelings about any of these characters individually. As a group they all have good hearts, and are brave and protective of the people they care about but also respect them and treat them as equals. That’s what appeals to me in a male lead. That and a little bit of snark.

Who did you fall for this year in fiction?

Faves of 2011

Special thanks to InkCrush for hosting the Faves of TwentyEleven Book Awards! This is going on all week. It seems like it’s going to be a lot of fun so if you’re interested you should join in. Today we focus on The Books. I’m making an effort to select a different book for each category.

Insurgent (Divergent #2) by Veronica Roth
What can you tell readers about Insurgent? I can’t say much because there’s very little I can reveal without spoiling everything. But I will say that the factions there were not featured in Divergent will have a more prominent role in Insurgent, and that readers will learn more about Tobias’ history. But essentially, the book is about consequences. The repercussions of what Tris did, and what Jeanine did at the end of the first book, in particular. Read more…

Oh, I love it. I bet we’re going to learn more about Amity, based on the design.
If you haven’t yet read Divergent, you should! Especially those of you who were fond of The Hunger Games.

If my entire life is like this, loud laughter and bold action and the kind of exhaustion you feel after a hard but satisfying day, I will be content.

Day 03: Your favorite series

Is this even a discussion?

A Song of Ice and Fire is my new love but Harry Potter will always come first.

Other honorable mentions… His Dark Materials by Phillip Pullman, The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins, Divergent by Veronica Roth, Study by Maria V. Snyder, and Maze Runner by James Dashner. What are your favorite series?

I am selfish. I am brave.

Veronica Roth, Divergent

If you read the novel this quote holds a lot more weight than it seems to if you have not; having read the novel (and loved it) this quote is one I relate to quite a lot.
